NORTH PLAINFIELD,  New Jersey (June 8, 2001) -- The Washington Park Association announced today that its Holiday Tour of Homes will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

"We're proud to display North Plainfield's history through architecture by displaying these homes," said Frank D'Amore, president of the Washington Park Association.

The candlelight tour will feature at least 10 stately houses in the Washington Park Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Residents will open their homes, many of which will be decorated for the holidays in traditional Victorian fashion.

Although structured as a walking tour through the neighborhood, limousine transportation will be available for an additional fee. The association also will sponsor a gift shop at the end of the tour, and refreshments will be available.

Cost of the tour is $15 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Washington Park Association, which promotes historic preservation in the North Plainfield borough of central New Jersey.

The association has sponsored home tours in alternating years since at least 1985. In the most recent event, in 1999, more than 600 visitors participated in the tour.
